Desert Bouquet

This is one of my latest prints, done using a new technique to compensate for the tremor in my drawing hand. Instead of drawing each color overlay in ink, I cut the desired shapes out of heavy paper with an exacto knife and tape them to the transparent overlay I make for each color. The background for this print is derived from a Pima Indian basket design. The flowers are desert bluebell, desert paintbrush, and globe mallow. This print uses more colors than anything I have done previously. Like much of my work, it reflects both Native American design and the art deco mode that I absorbed as a child.
