Ringtail

The ringtail looks as though it resulted from a cross between a fox, a cat, and a raccoon, though it is actually a relative of the latter. A nocturnal hunter, the ringtail prowls the rocky slopes of canyons and washes looking for insects, small mammals and bird eggs. Its tail is as long as its body and sports bold black and white stripes.

As in many of my prints I have combined art deco and Native American notions in this design. Having seen art deco all around me as a child, and having taught Native American art and culture for many years, such a style flows naturally from my life experience. And, it allows me to give visual expression to the regard I have for the Southwest, its life and cultures.
