Tucson Mexican Dancers
Being so close to Mexico, it is not surprising that Tucson has a number of groups and events that feature Mexican dancers and musicians. In addition to the International Mariachi Conference, there is the famous Ballet Folklorico La Paloma which delights audiences with their spirited and graceful renditions of traditional Mexican dance forms. Back in the 1920's and 1930's, Tucson appeared on travel posters as a somewhat exotic place in which to escape winter cold for sun and adventure. I have been inspired by such posters to produce a later version.
